Principal’s Message

Rainbow Secondary College is a small but dynamic rural college, set in the North West of the state of Victoria. We service a wheat and sheep farming community. Students are offered the full range of subjects from years 7-12 and we support our students to achieve their career and personal goals through small classes and an engaging and rigorous curriculum. Our recent review continued to demonstrate our excellent outcomes overall.

Students continue to rate our learning and teaching environment as excellent. Staff too continue to be very happy with all aspects of their organisational health. Finally, parents rate student learning, behaviour and overall school climate in the top percentile with trending up figures in all indicators over the period 2008 to 2010.

In 2009 both School councils agreed to a co-location to the secondary site. We received $3.5 million from the State and Federal Governments’ to build stage one of this project.  Stages 1 and 2 of the co-location project are now complete. The primary school co-located to our site in the middle of 2011. We share with  them the new art facility , foods/ textile and general classroom areas. We have an approved master plan for the rest of the project.

In 2012 the Southern Mallee Cluster Trade training centre, funded by the Federal Government will be completed. This will see renovated technology areas and together with Hopetoun Secondary College we will offer certificate 2 and 3 in building and engineering.

New playground equipment, synthetic and newly grassed areas have so far been a feature of the upgrades  to our playgrounds. All this has been provided by the Federal and State Governments over the last few years.

In 2012 there will be a joint school council arrangement finalised to provide governance for the two schools.
